Dilapidated Building Becomes New Business Focal Point

– The 511 Woodward Building was constructed in 1972 and sat vacant for decades prior to Elia Group’s acquisition and development of the property.

– Elia Group acquired the property in 2018 and completed a full property renovation, including a new architectural screen wall. The project was completed in 2020.

– While the building sat vacant for a number of years, the Elia Group team identified the opportunity that others missed in reimagining 511 Woodward building into Class A Real Estate asset achieving the highest rents in the Detroit Central Business District. The team completely redefined the building through redevelopment, transforming it into a focal point of downtown Detroit.

– Elia Group attracted Capital One Financial Corporation to lease and build out the first two floors of the building and transform the space into the Capital One Cafe which opened at the start of 2021. This was the first Capital One Cafe opened in the Metro Detroit Area.
